Receiving Blankets
Materials: Flannel is preferred, but fleece is also a good option.
Machine: A Serger is suggested. Sewing machines may be used with fleece.
Color: You can use any color or print fabric.
Size: 30” x 30” up to 36” x 36”
Washing:
Finished blankets must be washed.
Please use a “color catcher” in the washer if the fabric has colors that are likely to run.
Do not use a fabric softener in the washer or dryer.
After washing/drying please check the blanket for loose threads that need to be woven in.
Pattern:
When using a serger, hem around the entire blanket, rounding the corners so that you only have one thread tail to tuck in. Weave in serger ends at least 2”.
When using a sewing machine to make fleece blankets, use a zig zag or blanket stitch.
